Does it matter?

"Sometimes I think I say things to hear you say that you still care. I want to intrigue you. I want you to take part in my life. I want to know I'm loved. I want to hear I'm beautiful." -Yours truly

I think this is the opinion of many in our society. We have such high expectations for others, but we don't even meet our own standards. How can we expect to get anything out if we won't put anything in?! Why are we this way anyway? Maybe I sound like a fool, I don't know. This is just how I feel.

So why do we want more love? Because the love we experience first is not real. It's not true. We are given this horribly fake idea of it and then we're told to search for it. We think we've found it and we get our hearts broken. We're stupid, so we try and fail many more times. Finally, we reach the point where giving up is easy. It makes sense, but we don't. We let ourselves be broken. Instead of looking for one person, we seek many. When one breaks our heart, we still have a few more to comfort us. It's a vicious cycle and we don't notice the pain. We don't care. We've become numb.

The story stops here because I'm afraid to experience what's next....

P.S. This is written from a non-Christian perspective. This is not what I believe. Well, yes, I wrote it, but I wrote it and then took all  the Jesus-related things out. I did this so that I may better understand others and hopefully this can help you too.
